Show reviews and meeting the band:

I'm looking for more reviews and happy times with the band..... believe it or not, not everyone has met them or seen them play!! So please e-mail me with some cool stuff to post and ofcourse I'll give you credit!!

7/25/03

But I figured I could tell you about the Webster Thearter show!! It was @#%$ AWSOME!!! Kindred, Carolyn and I showed up at about 6pm. We went inside and Carolyn and I went right up front 'cause I like to listen to the opening bands... plus at some point everyone else was in the 21+ section or MIA.
Most of the opening bands sucked. Scarlet had awsome stage presence, but they need to work on the complexity of thier songs abit. Plus the sound guy didn't turn up the mic so it was kinda hard to hear the lead singer (we nicked named him KinderRocker and he kinda looked like Kenny). But I mean, geez they are only like 15 and they were better then two or three of the other bands that were there.
Bladed Shade @#%$ ROCKED MY SOX OFF!! The lead singer, in apperance, reminded me of a cross between the guy from Boy Meets World (the corey kid, thanx to Carolyn mentioning it) and a uber young Vince Neil. The kid was @#%$ awsome on the guitar and vocals. @#%$! THE WHOLE BAND WAS FUCKIN AWSOME! I ended up getting thier little 6 track cd. It's all glittery! YAY!
The last band before BC, Electric Gypsy, wasn't exactly my type of music, but they were amazing. This band kinda reminded me of the stuff my dad's band used to play back in the day. Actually... the bass player for this band kinda scared me 'cause he had the same manerrisms as my dad does when he's playing bass... I swear... just give this guy a pair of blue jeans and chucks, and he would have looks exactly like my dad!! ACK!
Then... the moment we have all been waiting for (especially the opening bands)... BEAUTIFUL CREATURES!!!!!

So, the WCCC lady comes out on stage and introduces the band... Then the intro track came on!!! The whole crowd started screaming!! It was soooooooooo great... and then we saw an Ant, and then a Starr, and then an Alex, and then a Kweens... and then a Joe... Then they blasted into the set in full force... everyone was screaming along... the energy in that place was absolutly AMAZING!! I was so excited that I finished my roll of film with in the first two songs.... luckily I brought my digital with me too! I am so happy that Alex and Matt joined the band. They rocked so hard! They fit so perfectly into the band!! During one of the songs, despite what Carolyn expected, Joe managed to get the mic to us! I also got a Matt stick!! YAY! I finally have a BC stick! And towards the end of the set I had caught Joe's water bottle and shared the contents with Heather and Carolyn... then I let Carolyn keep the bottle since she lovers the Joe so much. After the set I also got Carolyn a set list too since the night before some bitch tried to rip the other one out of her hands.

Lucky Dog, Worcester, MA 7/24/03

As the saying goes, the more things change, the more they remain the same. This applies to almost everything in life. Politicians change parties but can still be crooks. Atheletes change teams but still make the Hall of Fame. The Red Sox make trades but still never win the big one. Rarely though, do major changes within a rock band lead to fresh new beginnings that have the potential to awaken a slumbering fanbase.

On July 24th in Worcester, MA, at a club called the Lucky Dog, about 200 people were "lucky" to witness the latest incarnation of Beautiful Creatures. As anyone who has followed the band since 2001 knows, they've seen 3 lead guitarists and 2 drummers come through. Had label changes. And not to mention, distractions and set backs that most certainly would have dissolved any group that didn't have the immense amount of stubborness, stick-to-itiveness and down right heart that this band, at it's core, has. A collective heart to deliver consistent, genuine American rock to anyone left out there that cares. And for those that don't care, an ability to rip them off their barstool!

The set list was standard BC fare including one new song:
Ride
Step Back
Goin Off
1 AM
Kickin' For Days
New Orleans
Ready To Go
I Got It All
Kick Out
Highway To Hell
Whole Lotta Rosie
Wasted

"Rosie" featured Anthony Focx on drums and the newest member, Matt Starr stepping out from behind the drums to jam in Anthony's stead. There was very little banter between each song. Barely enough time to catch your breath, save for a brief lesson by Joe on the technicalities of saying the dimensions of "Rosie" correctly (42-39-56 baby)! The quality was there. The heart was there. No matter what, it's still BC.

I learned just hours before the show that Glen Sobel was no longer the drummer. I knew that he was recovering from medical issues but that he was truely gone was news. Glen for my money, is and always will be one of the most solid drummers live or in studio that there is going in rock today. His smiling presence behind the kit will be missed. To refer back to my original quote, the more things change, well, Matt Starr certainly held done his end of the bargin for the evening. His backbeat joined along with Kenny Kweens And Anthony Focx is the backbone of this crew.

And now the lead guitarist. As someone said that night, "we had one the was pretty darn good. Another that was OK. And now we have this guy. What do ya think?" Well, speaking as someone who has seen all three, Alex Grossi, with his playing style and obvious abilities with the guitar may just stand out in the end as the turning point for this band when the final reviews are written and roles are called. Any guitarist could have stood up there and played note for note. But Alex adds his own style, tone and stage presence to each song. I could sit here and go on and on but in the end, the fans will judge for themselves and I believe the the final verdics will be nothing but positive. He performed a damn fine set with an excitement that's been missing. He takes what to many of us are classic songs, and makes them his own. Period.

The final months of this year will be some of the best yet for Beautiful Creatures. With Kenny, Anthony, Alex, Matt and Joe working on the new album, after this one set at the Lucky Dog, I can safely say that we have nothing but some kick a*s rock about to be delivered to us. I know this to be true as sure as I know that no truer words were ever put to song than by another band that once graced the Lucky Dog stage....IT'S ONLY ROCK N ROLL BUT I LIKE IT!!!

Words that this band continues to live by! Whether you lead or follow, get the f*ck out of the way....Beautiful Creatures is coming!

Beautiful Creatures
November 4th-Orlando, Florida, USA
Venue: Hard Rock Cafe
The Rolling Rock Tour with Tantric and Oleander

This was a very small venue....I'll have to admit that I didn't really know who Beautiful Creatures was before the show....I had downloaded some of their songs and went for Tantric. A local band called 10 second drop performed and they sounded a little like Fuel, but were great. It was funny...the concert started at 6:15...people thought it started at 7...good thing we got their early....there was about 10 people in the venue....just watching. DJ from BC was walking around in some big furry boots....just walking around the place and talking (I didn't know who he was yet and I regret it!) Then next was Beautiful Creatures. Wow...a little less than half the venue was filled...no people! Beautiful Creatures came on and I didn't know what to expect. I was on DJ's side....and throughout the show....he was amazing. HE WAS THE BEST GUITARIST I HAVE EVER SEEN IN A LONG TIME! I thought he was better than Hendrix (playing-wise) in my opinion. He kept saying hi to the crowd and gave out mucho mucho guitar picks (I got one!). The guitar pick is of a silver color with the BC logo in glitter on the front of the pic and on the back of the pic it is a glitter sig of DJ Ashba. He kept smiling at the crowd and was playing so great!!! He started doing all these whammy stuff and just running around!!! BC was so energetic...I'll try to get the set list and some pics from the concert....BUT UNTIL THEN....I DEFINETLY RECCOMEND BEAUTIFUL CREATURES LIVE!!! GO SEE EM!

BC "Shook" Ft. Wayne, IN "All Night Long!"

Good evening... Unless I missed it, I haven't seen very much in regards to the show at Pierre's in Ft. Wayne this past Thursday night... In any case, sorry if there's any repetition - hope you all enjoy my story...
Wed. night I stayed up at Lake Erie and had a fantastic time -took a road trip from Columbus, OH... Since I was planning to see BC Thurs. I figured I'd just fill my days off with fun. Anyway, a friend of mine and I went and it was GREAT! We showed up between 10:30 and 11pm, just in time to see the 2nd opener. They did some really great covers ("Sanitarium" among them) and I felt they were a pretty good band... but that's not what I went for!
BC came on, and from the first note of "Ride," all the way to the end, they were AMAZING! "New Orleans," "Goin' Off" and "Kick Out" are still my fav.s live, but each song was tremendously performed Thursday... Thundering drums, screaming solos, grooving bass and flawless rhythm, fantastic crowd interaction (although the crowd was admittedly on the small side) and a very tactful/apt message from Joe regarding our national tragedy. You may be a "singing guy" for profession, but as a "speaking guy" you had a very intelligent message to deliver. I had a full evening of singing, hand-raising, laughing and cheering. The stage moves, solidarity of the band's sound, Joe's vocal stylings and DJ's scaling of amps were all present, but the best part of the evening was still yet to come...!
After the show BC hung out with everyone, signed autographs, took pictures and even sung KARAOKE. That's right, it's something I'll never forget! "You Shook Me All Night Long" (Joe, you ROCK!), "Devil Went Down 2 GA" and "YMCA" were the selected numbers, and it was thrilling just to be there. Anyone that thinks these guys aren't down-to-earth must've met them at a bad time or not been conscious, b/c every member of this band seriously cares about their fans.
I also want say I met 3 very nice people from Poison's message board, and am very happy they attended the show. Thank you for making the trek! I'd also like to thank DJ's guitar tech for chasing me down a pick - THANK YOU!!! Thank you to DJ too - there were tons of people waiting to talk with you and you took the time to take pics with me and converse... You're not only an exceptional guitarist, but a nice guy as well... Kenny, thanks for signing an extra autograph for one of my friends from <here> (she'll be SO happy!) and for being so... well, COOL! It's really refreshing to meet someone so arrogance-free & personable. This goes for everyone in the band, I just got to talk with DJ and Kenny the most...
I've got picks, pics and autographs + the memory of an a$$-kicking good time! Anyone who hasn't bought this album, merchandise or seen BC perform, GO DO IT ALL!!!!!! You won't regret it. In closing, thank you to all the other fans that attended, it was a really fun group, and THANK YOU most of all to BC - you are the "real deal."

The Real Cleveland Show Review-Front and Center

The Beautiful Creatures played Peabody's in Cleveland, OH on September 14th.We arrived at the venue around 7, and imediately ran into Anthony and Glen. They said hello, and then ran to go grab a bite to eat.The opening bands didn't really impress us, so we headed outside. After showing Anthony our BC tattoo's we headed back inside and grabbed front and center spots. They were running a little late, and started the show at 10:15.The stage grew smokey, and the crowd instantly burst into cheers. As a mix of BC tunes was playing, a dark silhouette walked across the stage and grabbed a guitar. It was Anthony. The others quickly joined, and burst into the opening riffs of Ride. The crowd went crazy.DJ was a wild man, jumping everywhere and pounding killer riffs and solos.Joe, with his awesome vocals, swayed across the stage in true frontman form.Kenny slammed the bass and had his hair flying hair in every direction.Anthony played with intense concentration, and Glen pounded the drums with all of his might. They played Step back, their first single Wasted, 1 AM, Kickin For Days, I Got It All, Goin Off, New Orleans, and closed with Kick Out.To the delight of the fans, they even performed Blacklist, which was not on the set list. When it was over, we knew it had been a killer show because we were drenched in sweat, and we could barely hear or speak. The guys were nice enough to sign autographs and hang with the fans after the show.We had a killer time, and only hope that there are more shows like that in the future.Without a doubt, it was Rock n ROll at its finest!!!

More details:

Well, after the show,we went and had our stuff signed. The guys tripped out when they seen our BC tattoos.Joe even called us his girls, and DJ said he was a "Proud Father" LMAO We gave the guys the cookies we had brought them, and around 1am we went and had some dinner with Kenny. It was really nice to be able to sit and talk with him.He is an amazing person, and really loves his fans..like all of the guys. After we ate, we headed back to the bar.It was so much fun. Everyone was drinkin and dancin. DJ owed us a shot of Jager, so we ended up on the bus.The party on the bus was CRAZY!!! We jammed Van Halen all night, and even seen DJ do some DAvid Lee Roth kicks. Not only only can the man play really good guitar, but he can play kick ass air guitar as well.As well as Kenny and Joe..LOL After things settled down, DJ gave us a tour of the bus.Its amazing how people can live on those lil things for such long periods of time.Wish i had my own bus lol but anyways, the guys were GREAT and we had a kick ass rock n roll adventure. Kenny and DJ were really great to sit and talk to and dance with, Joe was soooooo nice and funny, and Anthony and Glen were sweeties!!

CLEVELAND SHOW REVIEW!!!!!

freekin awesome.......

(first off, it's almost 5 am....so i'm a little retarded)

my friend and i got there at about 8:30 pm. the band was nowhere in sight. we talked to their guitar tech and he said that they were sleepin. i could understand since when i saw them earlier at the mall they were like walking zombie's!!!!

they played at 10 pm. it was really cool. i was kind of dissappointed that the majority of their fans were about 16, but hey, it's cool!!!!!

they played a whole bunch of songs, but i'm not quite sure if they played the whole cd (i was beer buzzin). they were totally into the crowd and their music.

after their set, they headed off to the tour bus. we waited around for about 15 minutes, and decided to go outside, and perhaps on the bus. the band was standing out there talking to a crew of fans. joe saw us and gave me a hug!!! him and glen took the two of us back in to watch the other bands. they were so nice and sooooooooooo cute. after some time they invited us on the tour bus. (my first tour bus experience!) we got a tour of the tour bus. first there was the sitting room, then the kitchen, followed by the bathroom, a couple of coffins (beds), then finally the lounging room!

so then, anthony, glen, and joe, me and my girly sat around and drank with them. i haven't had so much fun since, well i don't really know!!!!

so as we end.......

there was a big ass party on the tour bus from 2 until, well, probably now!!!!!!!! you can certainly cram a lot of people on those things.

i'm really tired, so if i can remember anything tomorrow, i'll definetly post it!!!!
